National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the primary U.S. federal agency dedicated to creating new knowledge in occupational safety and health and turning that knowledge into practice. Established in 1970 by the Occupational Safety and Health Act, NIOSH operates as an independent research agency within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Its mission is to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses by developing and recommending policies, interventions, and best practices.
