Overview
Employer support and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) are two distinct concepts that aim to support employees who serve in the uniformed services. While employer support is a voluntary effort by companies to assist their employees who serve, USERRA is a federal law that provides job protection and reemployment rights to service members. As noted by the Department of Labor, USERRA is enforced by the Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS), and companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have implemented their own employer support programs, often in conjunction with USERRA.
