The Pandyan Kingdom, also known as the Pandyas of Madurai, was a preeminent Tamil dynasty that dominated South India for over 2,000 years. As one of the "three crowned kings" of Tamilakam, alongside the Cheras and Cholas, the Pandyas wielded significant political, economic, and cultural influence. Their reign saw periods of both regional dominance and imperial expansion, notably from the 6th to 10th centuries CE and again in the 13th and 14th centuries CE.
