The Bab-el-Mandeb is a strait divided into two channels: the Bab Iskender and the Dact-el-Mayun. The strait is situated near the Yemeni city of Mukalla and the Djiboutian city of Djibouti City. The Bab-el-Mandeb has a hot and dry desert climate, with very little rainfall throughout the year, and is home to a diverse range of marine life, including coral reefs and sea turtles.
